As it runs, your engine produces extreme heat. Without a cooling system, it would become too hot and fail to run! This cooling system is comprised of a cooling fan, radiator, coolant reservoir, water pump, and thermostat. These components work together, with a network of hoses that allow coolant to flow between the engine and radiator, to keep your engine cool. When a piece of this cooling system fails, your engine can overheat, which can cause significant damage to the engine. Your vehicle will show signs if it loses coolant: drips in your garage, a rising temperature gauge, a red coolant light, and sometimes smoke from under the hood are some indicators of coolant loss and overheating. If your vehicle does overheat, pull over! Overheating an engine for even a minute can risk causing engine damage. Once your vehicle is in our shop, our technicians will examine your vehicle’s cooling system and advise you on the best course of action.
